Hello friends,
Once again, the time has come for us to usher in a new year and set goals for ourselves that we may or may not accomplish by December 31st. As for myself, I’m personally looking forward to continuing this project and learning by reading new literature, having more challenging and encouraging conversations with readers, and digging into topics that are genuinely interesting and pertinent.
On the docket for this year, and I hope to follow through, is investigation into issues pertaining to autonomy (morality, law, rights), historical eugenicists, and various opposing viewpoints on assisted dying. This, in addition to posts on various other topics as they come up. Moreover, I want to continue reading and posting book reviews.
One goal that I have is to read and interact with other blogs and content creators more often. Why do I want to do this? Because I want to learn from others and grow by building meaningful connections.
I think this is a good direction to take and certainly enough to keep me busy and entertained for one year so I don’t think I want to add anything in terms of short term goals. Perhaps what I learned the most last year was prioritizing time to learn and rest, and not overwork and stress out over constantly writing.
That being said, one idea that’s popped into my mind that I may consider down the road is… a podcast.
I think that would be really sweet and possibly be really helpful for people who may not have the time to read long-form posts but may be able to listen to my ramblings while exercising, driving, or washing dishes. But also, I have a tough time finding many podcasts out there that deal specifically with bioethics. Especially from a pro-life perspective. I know there’s The Fetal Position which was really good but I’m not sure whether it is continuing or has permanently stopped. There’s also The Bioethics Podcast over at Trinity International University’s Center for Bioethics and Human Dignity which hasn’t done anything since 2014. Needless to say, the prospect would be very interesting.
As always, I’m happy to hear what people’s thoughts are. So, if you have an idea, a question, or some feedback you’d like to offer, you’re invited to share in the comment section. 🙂 Hope everyone has had a pleasant break and a wonderful New Year!
God bless,
Nate

The Life Training Institute used to have a podcast, but The Fetal Position kinda carried that torch forward after that stopped I think. I’ve just begun to check out Mark Harrington’s podcast (founder of Created Equal), but that’s more about pro-life activism rather than bioethics it seems, and there’s Jonathon’s Bridgehead podcast, but that’s more about the broader culture war rather than limited to focusing on bioethics.
